Automated Blood Sampling & Automated In-Vivo Sampling is a technique more humane for the animals, following the guidelines of the 3R’s – Refine, Reduce, Replace. This organization is created to spread the word to researchers all over the world.
The ABS-technique can be used by anyone now taking manual blood samples and/or starting up new trials.
Areas of use are for example DMPK, Safety Pharmacology, Toxicology and Biomarker studies.
The DiLab® AccuSampler® was one of the first instruments designed for Automated Blood Sampling.
Every time a blood sample is needed the ABS-technique can be applied. Advantages with the technique is that the animal can move freely in a stress-free environment. The systems can take blood samples both at day and night without being monitored and fewer animals are needed.
